can you believe we have lived in this house for almost 5 months and haven't even completed ashton's room? this weekend we decided to try to finish it or do something with it now that ashton is about to crawl and play with his toys. for months i agonized what i was going to do with it. what our theme would be etc. when i walked into his room this morning david hung up the mobile we got for him in germany and i knew right then what i wanted to do. i hope to get it finished sometime this week. for now here is a quick sneak peek.
early sunday morning. somehow i got the wrong bookshelf. david still wants to keep it but we need to head back today and get the right one.
my color inspiration. i am very color phobic. meaning i love white. i didn't want that for ashton's room.
"let me outta here!"
"no, seriously, let me outta here"... it's hard to say no to that face.
Sunday
Thursday
here's looking at you...
this is my very first macro and can you believe it! i placed #19 on flickr explore. that's the second page! it had entered at around #140 and just kept going down from there. for those who don't know what flickr explore is. (cliffnotes: flickr picks out the top 500 interesting pictures a day by popularity and other factors). it's a great honor to have my image placed on the second page. i dream that someday i will make front page but second is far more than i ever thought i could achieve!
Monday
photography hate
well, my plane didn't crash (if you haven't figured it out yet. i have aerophobia). we had a blast and couldn't have asked for a better time. my only complaint (besides the heat and the crowds) was that i did not take as many pictures as i had hoped for.
it's kind of funny really, because i was just talking to my good friend mandy who said she had been feeling pretty crappy with her photographs (although i think her pictures have been reallllly good.)... but that's how i have been feeling about my pictures. i don't know how to explain it very well. point is. if i haven't posted pictures on here lately it's because i feel like they're NOT good enough to share. i don't sit ashton down to take pictures of him anymore. it bothers me to no end. he's almost 7 months and i have missed SO MANY candid moments i could (should) have captured.
maybe it's all the stress and heat and crowds that caused me to flake out. i am way behind in my normal life (doctor appointments, house work etc). who knows. i don't know why i even bothered blogging about it. i know i am not alone. maybe it's just a normal phase any photographer goes through. anywhooo, i am going to make it a point to start picking up my camera and capturing life.

Friday
ashton's first trip to the beach
we're in florida for the next 11 days. ashton went to the beach for the first time and loved it.

i love this picture so much!

david, ashton, and zachary

i love that ashton loves water so much...

in between waves he would watch the birds or people walk by...

lol...

i actually used my off camera flash for these. i love the look much better than direct flash from oncamera.

i just need to learn how to make it look more natural i suppose.

either way, i am still very please with it. i even used flash on this one.

and this one.

i wish i could have recorded how excited he became every single time water touched him.

some days i can't believe this is my family. i love them so much!

he ran his fingers through the sand several times, before he...

grabbed a handful of it (uh-oh)... annnnnd

that's right.. ate it..

but that's not all..

he did it again!

apparently sand tastes delish. who knew.

(lighting was all wrong with this picture, but ashton had sand all over his face and mouth.

sleepy. we had a long day. (almost missed our flight too).

they look like sugar coated feet. yummm!

my chubster! full of sand no doubt.

up and away.

ending our day by sharing giggles with daddy...

::sigh:: i love these two soooo much!
