Saturday

lemons and butternut squash...

butternut squash
i know they say you aren't supposed to give babies citrus since it's a common known allergen but ashton doesn't seem to be having any issues with it and i only let him taste lemon/lime slices. the boy LOVES citrus. funny i drank a lot of orange juice and lemonade when i was pregnant with him. in fact i craved lemon a lot while pregnant. anyway, we tried a new food. butternut squash.

butternut squash
he seemed to like it. much better than the avocado he had last week. i need a new bib. the white ones stain to easily and aren't very big. i didn't realize that ashton would get food everywhere. lol my bestfriend tanna made it look so easy!

Thursday

it holds true...

quiet awake baby = up to no good. i say that a lot these days. anytime ashton is super quiet i look over at him and he is always up to something. when he notices i see him all you see is pride in his face. sometimes you have to intervene. i'll let him play with the tv remote. i seriously had this "final destination" image run through my head of him choking on it and me having to pull it out by the cord and it causing severe damage to my babykins.

huh.. looks like a choking hazard to me.
(look how proud he is!) he does this to his paci clips too! as i was taking it away, you can see him use his death grip on it. ha. let's just say it was 30mins of pure torture for my bleeding ears. but having a happy (alive) baby is well worth the cries and protest.

and to whoever it was to suggest i keep my 85mm prime lens. THANK YOU! i am sooo happy i did. however, my husband would like to tell you to quit putting ideas in my head because now my next want item is the 35mm f/1.4L lens. i thought david would tip over in his chair when i told him what i wanted this christmas (that and a 50D) lol. i plan on renting it (lens not camera) when i go up to colorado in a week. i can't tell you how much fun primes are. i love PRIMES! zooms = for losers ;oP

primes!

does he look a little blue to you? i have been doing all my processing in lightroom lately (no photoshop). i upgraded to lightroom 2 (whoot). it's so much easier to process images. i need to calibrate my computer screen.

Tuesday

he thinks he can...

he thinks he can
and he did.

i love watching him figuring out a way not to tip over for something he wants. it's the cutest. every day he is stronger the the day before. amazing.

here is a picture of ashton and his great grandmom at the family reunion, taken by david's uncle matt. such a sweet picture!!he really looks older here.. ::sniffles:: my baby is growing up. so sad.

Sunday

weekend.

"omg mom. look!"
"hey mom, LOOK!"

david and anne plus one blog
"HAHA psych!"

david's family had a family reunion. we had a wonderful time and ashton loved seeing his grandparents. it's amazing how fast life passes you by when you are busy. it's also amazing to see yourself in pictures and realize you still look 9months pregnant. in fact it's pretty disturbing. ha. david and i also worked on our front yard. we have been pulling weeds for a few weeks now and we *thought* we were almost done until our neighbor mentioned how beautiful our yard was becoming, (their yard is perfect). she mentioned how green it was yadda yadda yadda. then she pointed out to her issue and showed us some johnson grass. that was when we realized 50% of our yard is johnson grass (we want bermuda). so our yard is back to looking cruddy but for a good reason. at least we have a small section of perfect thick luscious bermuda grass. it reminds us what our yard will look like someday. :o) however my fingers hate me right now. ashton news. he has started to crawl backwards (i will need to try to record that somehow) and wave byebye, thought i don't think he knows what it means. he just likes to copy us.

david and anne plus one blog
that's one way to do it.

amazing he can sleep like this but has trouble in his own crib. LOL!

Friday

first solids!

it's been awhile. long story short. my computer crashed due to a bad harddrive. i didn't have much room on my flash cards so there weren't a lot of picture taking in the last week. which is unfortunate since ashton has been full of funny faces. i saved what i could for ashton's first solids. avocados. i'm not so sure he really liked it, but it could have been too new for him. i'm going to try a different food this weekend.

do the colors look right?!
ashton; super model baby! haha actually, it's more like "get this darn thing off me".

first solids
"ohh something new!"

first solids
"gimme gimme"

first solids first solids first solids
"what is the green goopy stuff?"

taking it cautiously. you can never be too sure if your parents are giving you cat food and whatnot!

first solids
ashton: "and you're positive i'm supposed to be eating this stuff... right?"

first solids
he's looking just a tad bit worried.

first solids
but he's a trooper...

first solids
...even when he is *this* close to upchucking it.

first solids
first solids
he was more interested in feeding himself...

or at least playing in it. :o/

this face pretty much sums up how he feels about avocados. ha!

first solids
i want to eat him.

Wednesday

my heart is warm

it's amazing how much i love this little boy. i often think back to when i was pregnant a year ago and how clueless i was regarding ashton's personality. everyday my heart is filled with more joy and warmth. i have a sweet precious baby! i couldn't be more blessed.

how i feel about ebay...

Saturday

it's about time he earns his keep!

child labor :o) child labor

today i was standing in the cleaning section at wal-mart, looking up at the swiffer jets. when a lady walked by and said, "get it. you'll love it". i've previously owned one of these throw away mopping things a few years ago (the clorox ready mop). it was horrible! talk about throwing your money away! i side eyed the lady and said, "are you sure? i had the clorox one a few years back and it was bad"..

lady: in complete disgust; "oh i don't use clorox on my floors."
me: " i'm not talking about bleach, i'm talking about the clorox brand ready mops"
lady: "oh.. well, i don't know. i love mine.. of course i have a maid who comes in twice a week and uses the real mop. so my floors are never dirty."
me: blank stare "must be nice".

is she saying i have dirty floors? and that's why the clorox stunk big monkey butts?! how rude! lol.

ohhhh alright, our floors are dirty. i hate mopping. mopping the apartment was easy. our kitchen was the size of a kitchen in a camper! now our kitchen is the size of our apartment. not to mention the tiled hall, entry hall, and bathrooms. PLUS the wood throughout the house. I HATE mopping our house. it's back breaking work! reluctantly i grabbed the swiffer jet wet and walked up to our cart. david was giving me the "ugh" look, "what is this..didn't you buy one before and hated it?" "yes, but the lady ::points:: told me i would love it.. she has a maid"

david: blank stare "umm okay".

haha.

i couldn't wait to get home and test it. suprisingly i realllllly love the swiffer jet wet. it works well. i wonder if it will be easier now.

Friday

video: ashton passes out during playtime.

still working on his room. i stayed up super late last night cutting out all the fabric. hopefully, i will have time to sew them all together when david gets home from work. his room is a bit disorganized as i am trying to find an arrangement that works (plus i'm working out a way to get him more toys to fill all this space lol). but i included a short clip of his room.

anyway. ashton was sitting upright next to me playing with his cloth book when i realized he was quiet, (as i have learned recently. quiet baby = a baby up to no good). i look over and he just relaxing on his pillows with this glazed over look. a few mins later i look again and he was out like a light bulb. i wish i had my camera handy to take some pictures, but ashton has begun the separation anxiety phase and i knew he would wake up freaking if i got up. thank goodness the webcam!

meet jack...

meet jack
one of ashton's newest additions. it says 18months and up on the box. do any of you buy toys for your kids even though they are under the age limit?

meet jack
listen up jack. here in ashton's room, there are some rules to abide to...

meet jack
first rule. always. and i mean always. obey ashton. or there will be hell to pay.

meet jack
rule two. ashton has special powers to melt your brain. so don't forget rule one.

meet jack
rule three. you are not to mention anything about his monkey feet. mmmkay?!

meet jack
rule four. when ashton starts milking you. as impossible as it is, do your best at providing that need. mommy could use a break!

meet jack
just trust me on this one.

meet jack
welcome to ashton's room!

i used to have a jack in the box when i was a kid. i loved that thing.
