pumpkin patch (sorta)

IMG_7367

we missed out on going to a big pumpkin patch this year, thanks to all the rain and a busy schedule. i was bummed about it, so i did what any normal rational person would do. i went to central market bought several over priced pumpkins and went to the botanical gardens for a photoshoot. lol. it rained early yesterday morning so everything was still soaking wet but at least i have some cute pictures of ashton with pumpkins. (right?)

"so, let me get this right. you're saying i shouldn't stick this nasty dirty pumpkin in my mouth?"

ashton waving at strangers. he just started doing this, this week.

we made a stop to the japanese gardens first. i was hoping for some great fall color bokeh but it was difficult without an extra pair of hands to help (david). i will go back later and try again. he enjoyed eating rocks (freaked me out) and dirty leaves. yum. but at least his sweater is oh so cute. (it ended up being to warm for it).

ashton is such a charmer. i was down by the koi showing ashton the fish. i was throwing leaves in the water to get the fish(s) attention. ashton started copying me and throwing them in as well (such and observer!). this sweet old couple walked by and started taking pictures of us. then they gave ashton a handful of fish food to throw at the fish. of course ashton thought they were baby food, so i had to do it for him. he really enjoyed the fish.

"look"

he's also learned to look when i say "LOOK!". i've been using it to my advantage during pictures. i probably should lay off it for awhile. he's going to catch on there is nothing to look at. lol.

the dirty sock

a few more new things this week. ashton loves handing me things and feeding me cheerios. oh and pulling his socks off (such fun!). apparently ashton thought i should have his dirty sock that he just had in his mouth. LOL! there isn't a day that goes by the he doesn't crack me up! i love him!

he was going to be a super cute spring chicken for halloween but after trying to get his costume made we realized it just wasn't going to work. ashton hates feathers (flipping out hysterically kind of hate) and anything on his head. now i am stuck without a costume for ashton's first halloween. i have something else in mind but not sure if i will be able to finish it time for tonight. :o/. not enough hours in the day that's for sure!

Tuesday

i made some pants for ashton...

i made.

i think they are adorable. david says the print is "way out there". lol.

i made

doesn't matter either way, they are just lounge pants for ashton.

i made

he loves handing us stuff now. so cute!

i made

someone needs to find something to stunt the growth of baby feet.

i made

who needs toys when you have potterybarn kids, williams-sonoma, and land of nod catalogs around?!

i love sewing, it calms me.

Saturday

just another saturday at our house...

with two sleepy boys, one sleepy cat, one wild cat, a bored mommy/wife, and a mini tour of the house lol. included is a video of ashton's room. i know it sounds insane but he has MORE toys on the way! lol. i can't help myself, i am addicted to "true play" and wooden toys. P.S. taken with a point and shoot camera so the quality isn't that great.

Friday

babies are smart yo'

"ashton, NO!"

i have a feeling ashton is going to be a handful when he starts walking. david wanted the house to smell like fall so we bought some of those oil plug ins. ashton didn't see me put them in, so i was rather shocked that he noticed it almost immediately when placed on the floor.

"noooooooooo" ::shakes head no::

i had to move him several (20?) times, 15 of those ended in a meltdown with him crawling right back over to it. wash and repeat. seriously though, i am amazed how smart babies are.

argh.

right now i am trying to teach him what "no" means. he just gives me this look and continues doing whatever he wants with a smirk on his face. at least he looks at me as if he knows he's not supposed to be doing it. haha.

Wednesday

question: why did i let my 9 month old feed himself?

reason not to let your 9 month old feed himself

answer: i have no clue. ha. ashton used to love eating baby food, but the last week or so he only sticks his tongue out for a quick lick then the show is over. however, he could eat himself sick with cheerios. i assume it's because he is in control and feeding himself.

reason not to let your 9 month old feed himself

so, out of a brief moment of laziness (i'm feeling better but still feeling blah), i poured the rest of his lunch into a bowl and let him have it (without a proper bib! the sanity!).

reason not to let your 9 month old feed himself

before i knew it. it was everywhere!

EVERY-------WHERE!

fussy baby + sick mommy = hardest job ever.

the fussy little explorer

maybe he's fussy because he's teething, or maybe he's fussy because he has what i have and feels like poo! that's my guess anyway. i haven't been updating my blog as much as i would like since i've been so busy with ebay (junk = cash = ashton's toys) and being sick and all.

<"come closer please"

doesn't matter how ashton feels, nothing keeps him from exploring the house. still hasn't mastered being on all fours, but he's getting quicker and stronger pulling himself to places of interest. you never realize how dirty your floors are until they start crawling.. i vacuum and the next day he's going after dead flies (i wish i was kidding), string, paper, more string, furballs (not to be confused with nasty hairballs that cats gag up. they are more like dust bunnies made out of cat fur. still disgusting). i'm starting to think we need to vacuum twice a day around here. roomba would be a good investment. hmm, i think i know what i want for christmas now.

he's discovered the oven.
open and close.. open and close.. open and close..
