ashton is breech!

frank breech to be exact!

this destroys any hope david and i had of a natural med free birth. the doctor hasn't called me back yet to let me know when we will schedule a c-section. naturally, i am scared out of my mind right now. i know a lot of people have had safe and healthy c-sections but it is still considered major surgery and i am not comfortable with it at all. whatever is best for ashton is my priority but that still doesn't make me feel any better!

good news is that he is healthy. my placenta looks really good and ashton apparently has a full head of hair. which we were not expecting. both david and i were bald babies and naturally assumed our kids would be as well. the doctor also estimated his weight at 8lbs 3ounces (i know she is wrong lol.) we will see. please pray for us.

  1. Hey girl.... I know how badly you wanted to do a natural birth! I am so sorry things are not going as you planned them too! I am so happy he is doing great and is a healthy little boy though... besides that silly little stubborn butt being breach. :o)

I will keep you in my prayers through all of this. Try to head up and not worry! :o) I love you so much! Your BFF!

  2. Hi. :) I have been reading your blog for a while. I think I found you on thebump.com because I have an account there. I'm a pro photographer & a new mom, too. My baby boy Zachary is 6 weeks old. I had to have a c-section because I'm tiny, and he was huge (9lb 6oz - a full pound more than they had estimated the day before!!).

I just wanted to let you know that there is nothing to be scared of, and that in my opinion (maybe I'm a little biased of course!) c-section moms are stronger than anyone, because even after major surgery (which it is, you're right), we still find the strength to take care of our babies.

However, it's not as bad as you think it is. It is definitely going to be super painful for a couple of days, but by the time you go home from the hospital you're going to be feeling better. After a week, it's even better. Two weeks and you start to feel pretty normal again. At six weeks, aside from a little soreness when I strain myself, I feel great and just like myself!

There is NOTHING to feel bad about, even though you can't go without meds. Trust me, the pain you'll end up feeling after the surgery is worse than giving birth anyway. :) The most important thing is your health & your baby's health. Once you see your beautiful boy's face, you will realize that it doesn't matter how he comes out, what's important is that he's there and he's yours. Surgery sucks, but I would do it all over again to have my little guy. He's great!

If you visit my blog, I posted my birth story there if you want to look through the back entries and find it (it was about a month ago that I posted), and feel free to send me an email if you have any questions or if you ever want to chat about photography! :)
