then we went to the southlake townsquare where we caught up on some books that friends had recommended..
like "ten little ladybugs" by melanie gerth.
"hmmm, five little lady bugs sleeping by the shore, up came a fish and then there were... FOUR little lady bugs..."
"oh nooooes, what happend to all the lady bugs?"
"yay they all went home!!! all done"
ashton loved that book. i enjoyed reading it to him. someday i will get it for him. in the meantime we will enjoy reading books for free at our local barnes & noble's. it gives me a reason/excuse to get a vanilla bean frap.
it was pretty hot outside. we went to williams-sonoma and somehow managed only to leave with an $8 tart pan. had some piccomolo and went straight over to central market across the street.
they don't allow camera's inside their store. understandable but lame! so i took a picture of the outside.. HA! take that central market!
sunday turned out to be another hot day, so why not go to the zoo and get heatstroke!! YIPEE feeling hot is my favorite thing in the world! david made breakfast and off we went.
ashton took a short nap before leaving (and in the car). obviously not long enough. as soon as we got there, he started showing signs of being sleepy.
though he was awake enough so mommy could take some cute pictures of her handsome little boy :o).
i wanted to take pictures of him with some zoo animals in it. but it was hotter than hell in bright sun and the animals were smart enough to slowly die from the heat in the shade.
he is my muse..
ashton my sweetie, you are just too cute for your own good!
we haven't made it to the wild texas part of the zoo. it's towards the back and by the time we are halfway through, ashton has usually had enough. i always have to make a trip through raptor canyon though (the harpy eagle is my favorite exhibit)
harpy eagles bore ashton, he was out. david and i sat (dying from the heat) at the waterfowl pond and let ashton finish his nap.
then we made our way to the flamingo's (my favorite zoo animal). where i tried to take pictures of my boys with the birds but failed considerably. ashton seemed to enjoy them. look at that smile!
you know, there is one thing i don't understand about ashton..
he recognizes me with sunglasses...
he recognizes me behind a camera, (that smile was freely given. i didn't even have to coax it out of him).
but for some odd reason, ashton does not recognize me with a towel on my head. nope.. makes for interesting showers!
i love lazy fun weekends with ashton and david. we still have a lot of work around here that needs to be done, but life is too short! am-i-right-or-am-i-right?
the towel on your head comment cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteten little ladybugs is one of our FAVS! it has been very loved in our house. you should see that sad book now.
why don't yall LOOK hot at the zoo? when i get hot i turn beat red and sweat like crazy. i am really a hot mess, and it's not a good thing!
Ashton is cute & funny! just like his parents!
yes, you are the one who told me about the ten little lady bugs HA! it's a super cute book/story.
ReplyDeletemaybe i was the only hot one at the zoo. with all my layers of fat it's hard to keep cool in this texas heat. hahaha. i was dripping and had sausage fingers!
The last set of photos are my faves: what a great smile. I have yet to really get a good photo of Wes smiling...
ReplyDeleteI see Ashton loves his Lamaze toy, too. We're crazy about our Jacques the Peacock.
